Free Easy Image Cropper - Manually Trim and Frame Images
Crop to Exactly What You Need
Sometimes a photo is 80% background and 20% subject. Our free image cropper lets you drag the edges to select exactly the part you want to keep. No hidden settings, no sign-up form — just a drag-and-drop crop box with handles on every corner and edge. What you see is what you get.
Social Media Sizes, Pre-Loaded
The most common reason people crop photos is to fit platform requirements. We've built the most-used ratios directly into the tool:
- Instagram Post — 1:1 square or 4:5 portrait
- Instagram Story / TikTok — 9:16 vertical
- YouTube Thumbnail — 16:9
- Twitter / X Post — 16:9 or 2:1
- LinkedIn Banner — 4:1
Select a preset and the crop box snaps to that ratio. Move it to frame your subject, then download.
Rule of Thirds Grid
Turn on the Rule of Thirds overlay to align your subject's eyes, horizon lines, or focal points with the grid intersections. This is the same compositional principle used by professional photographers — it makes your photos look more intentional and better balanced without any design experience needed.
No Quality Lost on Crop
Cropping doesn't compress or re-encode your image. Our tool extracts the selected area directly from the original pixel data. If you started with a sharp, high-resolution photo, your cropped version will be equally sharp at its new dimensions. The output is a clean JPG or PNG at the full resolution of your selected area.
Works on Any Size
Upload anything from a 100 KB thumbnail to a 50-megapixel studio shot. No size limits, no upload to a server, no waiting. Everything runs in your browser via WebAssembly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does cropping reduce my image quality?
No. Cropping just removes pixels outside your selected area — it doesn't re-compress or re-encode what remains. The pixels inside your crop box come out exactly as they were in the original. No blurring, no artifacts.
What size should I crop for Instagram?
Square posts: 1:1 ratio (1080×1080 px). Portrait posts: 4:5 ratio (1080×1350 px). Stories and Reels: 9:16 ratio (1080×1920 px). Use our built-in presets — just pick the one you need and the crop box snaps to the right shape.
Can I crop a very large photo?
Yes, up to 50 megapixels. Since the crop runs on your own device via WebAssembly, there's no server upload size restriction. A 50MP photo crops just as fast as a 2MP phone snapshot.
Is my photo safe here?
Yes. Your image never leaves your browser. The crop runs locally in browser memory — we have zero access to your files. They're cleared completely when you close the tab.
